We know that results come from action. But what exactly is action, and what is its mother? For in knowing a thing, we can master it.

Lou Holtz once said that ‘Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.’

Let us focus on that for a moment.

Ability. What are you capable of doing? Think about that carefully. You have a heart, legs, mind, arms, eyes… and even if one or two of those are missing, your human potential is immense! I don’t think there is anyone on this planet currently actualizing more than 10% of their ability. The potential ability is immense! Yes, the realized ability may be tiny, but the potential is insanely immense! Have a look at my Capability article for more on this.

Motivation. The energy, drive and desire to actually act is what will select, from your vast infinite potential, the VERY few specific things you will actually do. So how do you influence motivation? Simple. You control or position yourself appropriately in line with the three major motivators of humans. And these are financial (or similar) reward, ethics, and morals. Financial (or similar) reward is what you will get out of it, your potential perceived payoff for your effort. Morals are what YOU think and feel about yourself in terms of good or bad. Ethics is what OTHERS think and feel about you in terms of good or bad. Of course, you are creating your reality all along, so in truth, all these three are figments of your perception of life, and not concrete things in and of themselves. So you might as well imagine them as you wish!

Attitude. Now this is key! Your attitude is what you think and feel about yourself, not so much in terms of morality although it does touch on it, but in terms of the inner dialog you have with yourself and the feelings you generate within you. This will determine everything else! Attitude is being, and being is first cause. So start here! Fix this first. And the best advice on this is from my favorite book on this subject (yes, I am probably biased but I love this book) called ‘The Power of Your Subconscious Mind’ by Dr. Joseph Murphy. Get it and read it today!!! It is that good. And read it more than once.

Now. Moving on.

Zig Ziglar, the famous great salesman, once said that ‘You were born to win, but to be a winner you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win’.

Again, you see the elements of ability, motivation, and attitude in that statement. But there is more…

As I mentioned in one of my previous articles on the Law of Attraction, the only way to get results is via the Be-Do-Have formula (and not Do-Have-Be). In other words, being is the mother of doing, but many people make the mistake of approaching it the other way around. Being (attitude) is the mother, the first cause. The actions you take, their kind and caliber, will follow from the kind of attitude you bring to the table, who you have chosen to be in that moment.

Being can further be broken down to several components, which include knowledge and vision. You need to know what to do (knowledge) and then use that knowingness to create a vision. The vision is the finished blueprint in your mind, and later on paper, and that will guide your actions towards the manifestation of your vision. As above, so below.

So we all have an amazing potential ability. But the catalyst that unlocks that ability and makes the difference between one person and the other is who we have chosen to be in the moment (attitude/beingness), what we have sought and attracted in terms of knowing what to do, how we have motivated ourselves, and the vision we have constructed carefully and with clarity. Action will follow automatically from these ingredients and the results will hatch automatically.

So, if you agree with the above, then the path to great (or little) achievements is as follows:

  1. Sort your attitude out first, your state of being. Auto-suggestion is one way of doing this. See the book I mentioned above for excellent guidance on this.
  2. Seek out and attract the knowledge your require. This will come as insights, advice, books, people, etc. You will find that because you have sorted out your attitude, the law of attraction will start to bring to you the knowledge and you all you have to do is digest it and use it.
  3. Create your vision.
  4. Sort your motivation out. Manipulate your perceived and believed potential rewards (financial or similar, moral and ethical). This will give you the energy to act.
  5. Take action one step at a time, maintaining the right attitude.
  6. Enjoy the results!

Please. Try this at home J

Enjoy a beautiful day!

David
